TRUMBULL CT July 31 2019 — Two Bridgeport women were arrested for shoplifting from the Trumbull Mall Wednesday evening after one pepper-sprayed a security guard while trying to escape, police said. Around 8 p.m., Shazia Depass, 21, and a female juvenile selected more than $500 worth of Macy’s merchandise and left the store without paying. Macy’s and mall security confronted the pair in the parking lot, where Depass was detained. When a Macy’s security officer attempted to apprehend her, the juvenile pepper-sprayed him and a struggle ensued. Both women were held for the police and the security guard was treated on scene by Trumbull EMS.

Chicago IL July 31 2019 Three people were shot Tuesday after someone opened fire outside a South Side methadone clinic and a security guard returned fire. Employees were standing outside the building about 9:45 a.m. in the 900 block of East 93rd Street in Burnside when a vehicle pulled up and a passenger got out and fired shots at the staff, Chicago police said. A security guard fired shots back at two men, hitting them both, police said.   A 58-year-old male bystander was shot in the shoulder and was taken in good condition to Trinity Hospital. The two men shot by security fled in the vehicle but were arrested near the 8200 block of Cottage Grove, police said. They were treated for gunshot wounds at a hospital. A police source said the shooting happened outside a methadone clinic on the block. An employee reached by phone at Drexel Counseling Inc., which offers methadone treatment on the block, declined to speak about the shooting. Area South detectives are investigating.

DEBARY, Fla. July 31 2019 - A security guard for a DeBary community was arrested after deputies said he inappropriately touched a girl under the age of 16. Jeffrey Cobb, 34, was taken into custody after the alleged victim told officials that he had been inappropriately touching her since November 2018. Officials believe Cobb knew the girl through her family. Volusia County detectives have also learned of two other cases involving similar allegations against Cobb. Cobb faces a charge of lewd and lascivious battery by sexual act upon a minor. Neighbors told Channel 9 they hope more potential victims will come forward since Cobb is now in custody. Cobb worked as security guard with the DeBary Golf & Country Club. A judge set Cobb's bond at $50,000.

Stafford County VA July 31 2019 Two burglary suspects were arrested early Monday in Stafford County after they were spotted running along a major roadway after crashing their getaway vehicle, authorities said. Stafford Sheriff’s spokeswoman Amanda Vicinanzo said the incident began at Fredericksburg Motor Sports at 430 Kings Highway (State Route 3) in southern Stafford. A security guard who was parked nearby called police about 4:30 a.m. after seeing three males break into the business. The security guard confronted the intruders and tried to block them from leaving the scene, but the suspects ignored his commands. Two of the suspects fled in a minivan and attempted to strike the security guard with the vehicle as they left, Vicinanzo said. The minivan did strike a gate while leaving the property. Dawson County GA July 30 2019 A woman was followed to a North Georgia fire station Monday before she was shot and killed in front of her children, authorities said. Her husband is accused in the shooting, which was witnessed by several people at the fire station, Dawson County Sheriff Jeff Johnson told Channel 2 Action News. He immediately surrendered to firefighters and was taken into custody by arriving sheriff’s deputies. The children, ages 5 and 8, were not injured, Johnson said. They are currently in the custody of the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services. The ordeal started with a frantic 9-1-1 call around 7:30 p.m. Monday, according to the sheriff’s office. PLATTSBURGH NY July 31 2019 — Clinton Community College will be utilizing a new security service when students return to school this fall. The college’s board of trustees approved a resolution to contract the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department for campus security at its July 23 meeting. PORTLAND, Ore. July 31 2019 – A suspect was shot and killed by an officer in Southeast Portland on Tuesday afternoon. Police said around 4:20 p.m. they received a report from a security guard near 122nd Avenue and Glisan about a man trying to break into a car. They said they were told the man had an "edged' weapon. Witnesses told KATU News they saw a man walking around, waving an ax. They said arriving officers used "beanbag rounds" on the man before he got up and ran off. SOUTHAVEN, Miss. July 31 2019 —Two people are dead and two others injured following a shooting at the Southaven Walmart early Tuesday morning. A Southaven police officer and the alleged shooter – a former Walmart employee-   were both injured. The officer is expected to be okay after the bullet hit his vest. DURHAM, N.C. July 30 2019 Durham police officers said they believe a school bus driver may have ordered someone to shoot a 17-year-old Northern High School student. The story unfolded on May 29 near the Dearborn Drive and Old Oxford Road in north Durham. According to a search warrant the teen had just gotten off the bus when gunfire rang out from some nearby bushes. Bullets hit the family's home. But the teen was not injured. Investigators said they believe his school bus driver may have coordinated the attack while driving the bus. Authorities wrote in the search warrant that the bus driver had gotten into a fight with one of the boy's relatives before the shooting. The lawsuit, filed in Dallas County, came nearly a year after 38-year-old Jorge Olguín was fatally shot in front of his wife and two kids at the Wheatland Terrace apartments as they left a birthday party. The family in the lawsuit alleges that the security guard and the apartment complex displayed “heedless, reckless and wanton disregard for the rights, welfare and safety of Jorge Olguín.” Authorities have released few details about the investigation.
